The Library Needs YOU! 

Friends at the Lakewood Library need new voices and helping hands on the board to decide and implement actions and strategies as we move into the future.
WHO WE ARE? Lakewood Library Friends is a 503c nonprofit that raises funds through membership fees and other activities to support the Lakewood branch of the Dallas Public Library. The Lakewood Library Friends Council is an active committee that meets monthly with Lakewood associates to distribute funds for furniture, supplies, personnel support, & programs.

WHY? Despite being the smallest library building in the Dallas Public Library system, the Lakewood Branch is a vibrant affiliate library and consistently ranks among the top ten highest libraries in circulation. Nevertheless, it is one of the 29 affiliates that is supported by the Dallas Public Libraries system and often needs more than the library system can provide, especially considering its age and popularity in the community.

• MANAGEMENT BOARD Requires: Enthusiasm and passion for the Lakewood Branch, public libraries and the Lakewood community.
• TIME COMMITMENT: Meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday morning of each month, with 2 months off - December and August.
• PARTICIPATION: Board members are expected to attend at least 5 meetings per year to remain on the board. Board members are expected to participate in fundraising programs & events, and assist with set up and clean up.
• NEW IDEAS: Board members are encouraged to bring ideas for programs, fundraising, membership improvement, and other concerns
